Welcome to Art Café: not a sip and paint.
“Sip-n-paints” or “Paint-n-pours” are popping up all over these days, providing the opportunity to get creative in a laid back social setting. Typically these entail guests painting from a reference, whether it be a bouquet of flowers or a famous landscape.
While this is wonderful, Art Café challenges the design of typical creative social events in the pursuit of fostering authentic creative expression and connections.
Art Café is all about creativity and connection. Guests are not told what to paint – in fact, they’re encouraged to get as experimental as possible. After a brief watercolor painting tutorial, guests are provided with a unique creative prompt that acts as a launching pad into their painting experience.
Past prompts include…
How does your favorite song make you feel?
What does calm look like to you?
As a result, the artwork created is unique, personal, and introspective.
How does it work?
Art Café isn’t complete without music to set the tone (usually a local dj) and plenty of opportunity for conversations with new people, whether it be about the previous night’s antics or their interpretation of a prompt.
